A new era of Overwatch dawns

After months of speculation, Overwatch 2 made its official debut at BlizzCon 2019.
The sequel to Blizzard’s team shooter was revealed by creative director Jeff Kaplan at the annual event, accompanied by an emotional promotional video (you can find it below).
Overwatch 2 is a bit misleading compared to the regular format of the series. The sequel will feature new PvP modes, with Push being the main element of the competitive game, as well as new maps, cosmetic items, and characters – including Sojourn, who was revealed during the event. this.
While these new PvP modes are expected, what’s new for the series is the addition of heroic quests and plots that allow collaborative play – the first for the Overwatch series. In these “very replayable” missions, you and the five friends will try to accomplish the goals together against AI, acting as a welcome from the fierce online PvP mode that the series of games has known.
There’s quite a bit to wrap your head up – but don’t worry, we’ve gathered everything we know about Overwatch 2 so far for your perusal.

Overwatch 2 release date
Blizzard officially launched Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon 2019. It’s clear that the sequel is still under early development and Blizzard doesn’t know when it will be released.
“I don’t know. I have no idea,” creative director Jeff Kaplan said in the panel revealing Overwatch 2. “Like, let us make it great, that’s what we do.” care more than anything. We don’t have a day in mind. “
In January 2020, the official PlayStation Brazil Twitter account sparked excitement by tweeting that “2020 will be the year Overwatch 2 arrives with PS4” before deleting the tweet (currently stored by Voxel as a screenshot). ). But there is no official comment from Blizzard, this should be done with a pinch of salt. It could be a simpler mistake than a leak.

Release date of leakage?
The official Twitter account for PlayStation Brazil sparked excitement for Overwatch fans after tweeting that “2020 will be the year Overwatch 2 arrives with PS4”. Tweet was deleted but the screenshot was captured by Voxel. There is no official comment from Blizzard on this matter, but it is entirely possible that this is a simple bug belonging to the Twitter team of PlayStation Brazil. We will not know for sure until we receive an official comment; Jeff Kaplan had previously stated bluntly that he didn’t know when the game would be released because it was still in its early stages.
Teasing other heroes?
Blizzard was quite tight-lipped when it came to talking about the hero lineup for Overwatch 2, but fans who watched the Yule Log livestream clip of Jeff Kaplan were left wondering if the director would tease a new hero for the times. No follow-up releases (via ComicBook). During Kaplan’s livestream, while building a Lego Overwatch at about 6:11, he mentioned Overwatch’s Junker Queen and asked some questions about whether she “became” hero “or not the role she can assume if she’s one. It is not a confirmation of anything but it is enough during a quiet livestream to catch the attention of Overwatch fans. We imagine if Junker Queen becomes a hero in Overwatch 2, we will receive confirmation closer to the game’s release whenever possible.
Larger map and more heroes
In a recent interview, Overwatch 2’s assistant director, Aaron Keller, and lead writer, Michael Chu, expanded a bit about the team’s ambition to play PvE. According to Keller, there are “lots of heroes” working on the game and its PvE map “is 2 times bigger than the regular Overwatch map”.
This increased scale is all it takes to tell more stories in the Overwatch world, and that new collaborative missions will allow a more traditional way to tell a story in the Overwatch universe. A story that Zhou said will have “beginning, middle and end”.
Naturally, as stated before, PvP is still the focus of the team and progress in PvP will be “completely separate” from PvE.
According to Keller, we don’t want to change our talent and the ability to change our playstyle to give an unfair advantage in PvP. We are still exploring what players can earn in PvE and building a progression system for that. Our goal is to create a powerful, evolving system that provides our Hero Quests, where players can play and replay for hours or as the main game mode of them after they finished the Overwatch 2 story.
Focus narrative
J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard, said that with Overwatch 2, we’re building the game experience based on the collaborative story the player has requested since the original and we want to make in a long time. Entertainment. Software We look forward to telling the next chapter of this epic story in the game, and we are excited to offer our players a completely new co-op experience built around progress and Customize their favorite heroes – all while offering more than everything they love about Overwatch today.
PvP is still a focus
Despite focusing heavily on new collaborative modes, Kaplan took the time to dispel the myth that Overwatch 2 will lose in the multiplayer mode causing 50 million people to play the game in the first place.
In fact, according to Kaplan, a major focus for the Overwatch 2 team is making PvP the best it can be – including new maps, new modes and new characters farther away.
Cosmetic products will pass
According to Kaplan, all cosmetic items earned in the original Overwatch will be transferred to Overwatch 2 – a move that will help accelerate the transition to the new game.
Hero mission
Heroic missions see the Overwatch team travel around the world, protect cities against robot invasions, take on elite Talon agents and battle the evil forces that surround the world. This “very replayable mode” will allow players to level up their favorite heroes and earn powerful customization options, further increasing their capabilities in co-op games – for example like changing Reinhardt’s Fire Strike to burn nearby enemies or modifying Tracer’s Pulse Bomb to cause devastating chain reaction – granting them the extra advantage they need to resist overwhelming odds.

Overwatch and Overwatch 2 compatible
Current Overwatch players can play with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer mode. In addition, current Overwatch players will be able to play the heroes and maps of Overwatch 2.
Cooperation mission
The cooperative mission sees players working together to “stand together to combat the explosion of global threats”.
Play Overwatch 2
Similar to what we saw with its predecessor, Overwatch Play brings the player’s existing achievements and collection of loot and has the current complete Overwatch lineup, a new generation of heroes, New maps “expand world range” and new Push map types – plus more are revealed.
Mission story
Quests in the story see the original Winston, Tracer and the other members of Overwatch join forces with a new generation of heroes. Players will play an active role in the Overwatch story as a new global crisis takes place through a series of intense, durable four-player missions. As the story progresses, players will team up into different groups of heroes and fight to protect the world from the Null sector’s omnic forces, discover the motive behind the robotic army’s attacks, and face new and emerging threats around the globe.

Upgrade the new engine
Overwatch 2 introduces significant engine upgrades that support a larger map for co-op (PvE) play, as well as many new types of enemies and factions that players will encounter during missions. The game also introduces visual enhancements.
