Here’s what you’ll need to know to get Super Saiyan strong in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot
The new trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot plunges into the game’s character development system, and it’s surprisingly complicated.
Increasingly, Kakarot is proving to be a fitting role-playing game, complete with side quests, complex skill trees, food stats and community boards to learn special skills. You will want to explore each of those features to become a living legend of Goku.
I’m a big fan of eating, both in real life and in video games, so it’s nice to see Kakarot combining a number of ways to find a variety of food. You can cook the meat you see at campsites, but real people come from meals prepared by real cooks in town or at home. Just like the source job, it seems that Chi-Chi’s job is to prepare delicious meals, only for Goku to return home and defeat them like an animal. I just hope we can see Chi-Chi kumquat Goku match her signature bark.
You will upgrade your skill tree and learn Super Attack by collecting Z Orbs spread across the map. Certain skills require certain Z Orbs of specific color to be unlocked and others can only be unlocked by visiting the Driving Range. Searching Ki can help you find Medal D, which can be used to access the Driving Range.
Overcoming the main story and completing side quests for various characters will bring you the Soul Symbol, which can be placed on one of the seven Community Boards to learn a variety of community skills that help increase power for your team. The strategy of placing a Soul Symbol can grant you a Link Bonus, which gives your team stronger buffs.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the first immersive Dragon Ball game to appear in a while. Xenoverse and Xenoverse 2, while satisfying in their own way, are the first and foremost fighting game with some lightweight RPG elements. Kakarot is a fan of the Dragon Ball role-playing game that has been waiting since Game Boy Advance, Legacy of Goku 2.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is just one of many games coming out in 2020 to get excited.
